Dr. Hagelin Receives Top Honors at Morehouse College “Science and Spirituality” Lecture Series

On April 6, Institute director Dr. John Hagelin gave the keynote address at the prestigious Walter E. Massey Lectures on Science and Spirituality at Morehouse College in Atlanta. Dr. Hagelin and Dr. Walter Massey, for whom this lecture series is named, were the two guests of honor among the 50 top international scientists receiving honorary degrees from the college. More than 2,000 students, faculty, and alumni of the college attended the presentation.

Dr. Hagelin was introduced by Dr. Massey, a world-renowned scientist who has served as director of the National Science Foundation; director of the Argonne National Laboratory; dean of the College and professor of physics at Brown University; and provost at the University of California, where he oversaw the programs of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory, and Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory. He is currently a member of the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology and a recipient of more than 30 honorary degrees.

Dr. Hagelin spoke on “The Cosmos Within: Science, Consciousness, and the Ultimate Reality.” In his 30-minute presentation, he astounded the assembled scientists and the audience by showing that the convergence of science and spirit has already happened. He showed how the discovery of the Unified Field and its identification with pure consciousness has fulfilled the synthesis of science and spirit, and he outlined the powerful technologies and practical applications that have emerged from this profound synthesis. He explained how these technologies provide the key to individual peace and world peace—and how they lead to the growth of enlightenment, where the scientific truth of the unity of life becomes a living reality in daily life.

During Dr. Hagelin’s talk, there was an atmosphere of stunned silence—and then the whole auditorium, including the 50 honorary laureates on stage, erupted in a standing ovation.

“The response to this presentation was extraordinary—quite unprecedented in such formal academic circles,” said Dr. Hagelin. “It indicates that times are really, really changing. The receptivity to this knowledge is so great now. People immediately see the significance of our approach to peace, and they want to act on it.”
